As we honor our great Mother Earth, let us ask ourselves, “Do we have conviction of the heart… enough to take responsibility, speak up, and take action?” Wednesday, April 22 is Earth Day. How about we make this Earth Year? 🌎
We will focus on Conviction of the Heart this week, dancing to a playlist that is charged with movement, emotion and change. We will explore our breath, the power of nature, and our beautiful Earth.
How about we dance in gratitude for our rain?!!! The Earth is soaking it up, smiling tree to tree! 🌳~🌲~🌴
Have you heard the song, ‘Conviction of the Heart’ written by Kenny Loggins decades ago? A man with a vision and determination, the song was hailed as the “unofficial anthem of the environmental movement” by Al Gore, when Loggins performed it on Earth Day in 1995 at The National Mall in Washington, D.C.
It was co-written by Loggins and guitarist Guy Thomas, who got the idea when he was driving to Los Angeles and saw a toxic waste fill. He was reminded of the line from the movie Network, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore.” (side note: one of my favorite movies as a Junior in High School). He decided to take action, as he was upset about what was going on in the environment.
Loggins later included the song on a TV special called This Island Earth. The title song won an Emmy. 🥳

I am on fire with Conviction of the Heart. After listening to many scientists and voices of reason, Earth Day has taken on a whole new meaning for me.
